The K-pop girl group Blackpink has been breaking many records as the first female act and burning up both the domestic and international charts ever since they made their eagerly awaited comeback.
After almost two years, this YG Entertainment band delighted its fans by making a comeback. Let’s take a brief detour first, though! For those who may not be aware, Blackpink made their eagerly anticipated comeback on September 16 with the release of a new album, Born Pink, accompanied with a music video for the album’s lead single, Shut Down.
The record has been released for more than two weeks, and it is still on the charts. The most recent accomplishment has just appeared on Billboard.
Blackpink just made history when their second studio album, Born Pink, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s top 200 albums list, one of the most well-liked charts in the US, a few days ago, or more exactly last week. As the first female K-pop group to accomplish so, they succeeded.
As of today, Oct. 3, the record is still performing well on the Billboard 200. For the week ending October 4, it fell three ranks and remained at No. 4 on the chart. It remained in the top 5 for an additional week; this is already a significant accomplishment.
As the first female K-pop group to have two albums spend more than a week in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, Blackpink also created history in this regard. According to Luminate, Born Pink sold 40,000 equivalent album units in its second week on the list (previously MRC Data).
On September 16, Blackpink released Born Pink, their second studio album. On the other hand, on October 15 and 16, they will commence their BORN PINK globe tour, which will take them to many countries beginning with Seoul.
